Comment

The world distribution of death by non-communicable disease shows marked contrasts. The countries with very ageing populations are more susceptible to neurodegenerative illnesses. Those suffering from a combination of unbalanced diets, high alcohol and tobacco consumption, sedentary lifestyles, and exposure to pollution are more affected by cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Mortality from diabetes now impacts the whole world, starting with the poorest.
